Become a Canadian Nurse

June 7th, 2009

Many people do not know how to become a nurse as they begin planning their career in high school.
Maybe you are not aware there are three various nursing types in Canada and each has various education requirement varying from university degree to college diploma. Thus when you attempt to investigate how to become a nurse it is necessary to know the nursing type you want to choose.
1. A registered nurse may practice with customers of various age groups and various health challenge types of different degrees of complexities. Registered nurses can practice in various settings comprising the community, residential settings and mental health settings. In Canada, registered nurses have the broadest range of practice.
2. A registered psychiatric nurse possesses a much narrower practice scope than a registered nurse. A registered psychiatric nurse is limited to practice psychiatric nursing. Thus they give mental health nursing treat to a great diversity of customers and in a great diversity of settings. Then psychiatric nursing does not belong to a recognized nursing type in the country. It is accepted in such western provinces as Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.
3. A licensed practical nurse owns the narrowest practice scope. In some provinces licensed practical nurses should work under the control of registered nurses and in others the practice scope is limited to work as assistants to registered nurses; and there are some provinces where licensed practical nurses are fully autonomous and do not need supervision though the practice scope is far narrower that for other registered nursing professions.
